The U.S. District Courthouse has integrated very sophisticated technology into its courtrooms to provide an environment that is seamless and easy to use. 

Look on this page for a brief description of the technology you'll find in the courtrooms.  Please contact the courtroom deputy for your case with any questions.

Teleconference Capability:  All courtrooms have teleconference capability integrated into the courtroom technology.  You should notify the courtroom deputy well in advance if you anticipate you will need teleconferencing.

Video Conference capability:  Please be aware that there is video conference equipment in select courtrooms.  We also have the portable video conference unit that can be put into locations that don't have video conference capability.  You should check with the courtroom deputy if you anticipate you may need video conferencing.


 

The Podium (Seattle):  Integrated into the podium you'll find a touch panel monitor, document camera, microphone, and VCR.  Additionally, there are connections available for connecting your laptop.

The Document Camera:  The document camera can be used to display documents as well as other small items to all monitors.

 

The VCR:  The VCR is integrated into the courtroom technology and can be controlled by the front panel of the VCR.

 

Input Connections (Seattle):  input wells allow you to connect a laptop to be integrated into the courtroom technology.

Important:  If you intend to incorporate your laptop into the Courtroom Technology, it is imperative you test your laptop with the Courtroom Technology before the day of the appearance.

 

 

 

 

Assisted Listening Equipment:  All courtrooms can accommodate equipment to assist the hearing impaired as well as providing translation services when necessary.  If you need this equipment, please contact the courtroom deputy who will make the necessary arrangements.

 

The Controller:  The remote control unit can be used to control all pertinent aspects of the courtroom technology.  Please be aware that while the controller has buttons for controlling a DVD unit, there is not a DVD unit available for use with the Seattle courtroom technology. 

 

The Witness Stand:  The witness stand contains a touch panel monitor and microphone.

 

The Attorney Tables:  You will find monitors as well as input connections at the attorney tables.  Typically you will find one monitor and connection at the prosecution and defense table. In Seattle, you will find two monitors and input connections at the defense table (shown above).

 

The Jury Box:  The jury box contain eight 17 inch flat panel monitors to allow jurors easy viewing of displayed items.
