Focus of Law Practice: Mr. Bender participates in the firm's general litigation and complex commercial litigation practice, with special emphasis on construction claims, defense of design professionals and their insurers, and representation of municipalities. He represents owner-municipalities, developers and engineering and design firms in disputes arising from infrastructure improvement projects. He also participates in the firm's land use and environmental law practice. He represents private and public entities in state and federal regulatory proceedings. He frequently serves as an arbitrator and mediator.

ADR Experience: I have served as an arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association since 1990, and have conducted numerous arbitrations since that time, including an insurance mass claims program in excess of 120 files, and asbestos disease cases. I have been an approved mediator for the Federal Court under Local Rule 39.1 since 1990, and have presided over dozens of mediations since then. I have served as an arbitrator, mediator and frequently as panel chair on a wide range of securities and other cases. I also conduct private mediations for litigants in state court upon request, and have served as Judge Pro Tempore for the King County Superior Court on a high-dollar land use dispute.
