1975-2000: Trial lawyer representing clients in business and commercial cases. Clients included both plaintiffs and defendants, large and small business and professional service organizations, partnerships, individuals and public as well as private entities. The cases involved jury and nonjury matters in state and federal courts, class actions, cases before state and federal regulatory agencies, grand jury investigations and arbitration proceedings. The types of cases mainly included breach-of-contract, business torts, professional liability, antitrust, unfair competition, energy, health and insurance, real estate, partnership, employment, technology, timber, environmental, regulatory and securities-related matters.
2000-Present: Self-employed ADR neutral, providing arbitration, mediation and other ADR services. Occasional service as court-appointed special master (most recently in Whatley v. Nike, Inc., a patent case in the United States District Court for the District of Oregon).

Served as a sole or panelist arbitrator in more than 500 cases during the past twenty years, and as a neutral mediator in a substantially larger number of mediations. Frequent service as chair of three-arbitrator panels.
Primary subject-matter areas have been commercial, contract and business disputes, business purchase and sale, copyright, trademark and patent, international sales and licensing, health insurance, biotech, software and other technology disputes, commercial leasing and real estate, antitrust, employment, insurance coverage, franchise, valuation, distribution, disputes between shareholders, partners and LLC members, joint venture, energy (oil and gas, electric), Indian gaming, telecommunications, trusts and estates, professional liability, and construction. International arbitrations and mediations have included Australian, British, Canadian, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Indian, Japanese, Korean, Mexican, New Zealand, Peruvian, Saudi Arabian, Swedish and U.S. parties.
