I have had a commercial litigation practice for 39 years, including substantial experience in alternative dispute resolution as well as client counseling.
I was employed by Heller, Ehrman, White and McAuliffe from June, 1964, until my retirement from the firm December 31, 2003, first as an associate and then as a partner and shareholder beginning in 1971. In 1963-64 I was the Law Clerk to Hon. Charles M. Merrill, judge of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Trial and litigation attorney handling civil litigation in the following areas: trade secrets, trademarks, patents and copyrights; employee/officer fiduciary and noncompetition obligations and issues; licensing and distribution of software and other products; franchising; antitrust; unfair competition; business defamation and deceptive advertising; consumer protection and consumer class actions; civil/constitutional rights; government contracting and competitive bidding; real estate transactions; and Superfund actions. | ADR Experience: |
Have served as arbitrator in complex disputes concerning licensing of and rights to software and other intellectual property, and product distribution relationships. Have represented many clients in mediations to settle litigation involving issues including trademark infringement, breach of fiduciary duty, trade secret misappropriation, distributor/dealer terminations, antitrust, civil rights, and insurance coverage. Have also represented clients in arbitrations of various commercial disputes.
