Legal Experience

and Work History: As of July 15, 1997, I will have attained 40 years of practice with the law firm of Levinson, Friedman, Vhugen, Duggan & Bland.

Focus of Law Practice: My practice has focused on representing claimants injured in a variety of settings with principal emphasis on admiralty and maritime personal injuries.

Professional Associations: King County Bar Association; Washington State Bar Association; American Bar Association; Washington State Trial Lawyers Association; American Trial Lawyers Association; Maritime Law Association; elected as Fellow of American College of Trial Lawyers.

Alternative Dispute
Resolution (ADR) Training: I have attended and spoken at CLE courses designed to train mediators. The most recent was on 10/23/92, sponsored by the Federal Bar Association. The last prior to that was on 3/31/89 and 4/1/89, sponsored by the Manville Personal Injury Trust.

ADR Experience: I have extensive experience as a mediator, arbitrator and counsel representing parties in mediation and arbitration. I have acted as CR 39.1 mediator on several hundred occasions. The peak year was 1991, when I held 44 mediation hearings. Currently, I do about two CR 39.1 mediations per month. Most of my cases are filed in the U.S. District Court and, thus, I attend on an average of ten to 12 CR 39.1 mediations each year as counsel for a party.
I have been selected a number of times to mediate cases for Washington Arbitration & Mediation Service and have acted as arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association on several occasions. I have conducted an average of three to five mandatory arbitration (MAR) hearings per year for a number of years.
