How do I clear the browser cache?

 

To clear browser footprints in AOL 9.0 VR or AOL 9.0 Security Edition:

  • On the AOL toolbar, click the Settings icon.
  • Click the Internet [Web] Options link.
  • Click the Clear My Footprints tab.
  • Click the Select Footprints to Clear button.
  • Click the footprint options you wish to clear, to place a check mark in it.
  • Click the Clear Selected Footprints button.
  • Click the Close button.
  • Click the Cancel button.

Using AOL System Information 2.0

Alternatively, you can also use AOL System Information 2.0 to open the Internet Options window.  To open the AOL System Information 2.0:

  • Click the Start button, click Run, type SINF, then click the OK button.
  • On the Utilities tab in the Browser section, next to Internet Options Control Panel, click the Open button.
  • AOL System Information 2.0 is also capable of clearing all footprints without the need to launch the Internet Options window.


To delete temporary Internet files using AOL 9.0 Optimized SE/LE or AOL 9.0 Optimized:

  • On the AOL toolbar, click the Settings icon.
  • Click the Index tab.
  • Click the Internet [Web] Options link.
  • In the Internet Options window, click the Delete Files button.
  • Click the OK button.
  • Click the Clear History button.
  • Click the Yes button.

To delete temporary Internet files using AOL 8.0:

  • On the AOL toolbar, click the Settings tab, then click Preferences.
  • Click the Internet Properties (WWW): link.
  • Click the Delete Files button.
  • Choose the Delete all offline content option by clicking it, then click the OK button.
  • Click the Clear History button.
  • Click the Yes button.
  • Click the OK button.

Clear the AOL Web Page Storage Cache

  • On the AOL toolbar, click the Settings icon.
  • Click the Index tab.
  • Click the Internet [Web] Options link.
  • In the Internet Options window, click the AOL Browser tab.
  • Click the Clear Storage button.
  • Click the Yes button.
  • Click the OK button.

Delete the toolbar history using AOL 9.0
The history drop-down menu on the upper right of the Navigation bar displays the lists of most recently visited AOL areas or Web pages you have visited. You can delete this list (or toolbar history) if it becomes too long and confusing:

  • On the AOL toolbar, click the Settings icon.
  • Click the Index tab.
  • Click the Toolbar Settings link.
  • To clear the toolbar history each time you sign off or switch screen names, click the Clear History Trail and Auto-complete after each time I Sign Off or Switch Screen Names box to place a check mark in it.
  • To clear the toolbar history, click the Clear History Trail Now button.
  • If you wish to clear the toolbar history trail, click the Yes button. Else, click the No button.
  • Click the Save button.

Delete the toolbar history using AOL 8.0 Plus or AOL 8.0:

  • On the AOL toolbar, click Settings, then click Preferences.
  • Access the Toolbar & Sounds link.
  • If using AOL 8.0 Plus, click the By Category tab, then click the Toolbar & Sounds link.
  • If using AOL 8.0, click the Toolbar & Sound: link.
  • If offline, click Settings, click Preferences, then click the Toolbar & Sounds link.
  • To clear the History trail, each time you sign off or switch screen names, click the Clear History Trail and Auto-complete after each time I Sign Off or Switch Screen Names box to put a check mark in it.
  • To clear the toolbar history, click the Clear History Trail Now button.
  • If you wish to clear the toolbar history trail, click the Yes button. Else, click the No button.
  • Click the Save button.
  • Click the X button in the upper right to close the Preferences By Category: Appearance or Preferences window.
