Welcome to the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington. This court serves the area west of the Cascade Mountains and from Oregon to the Canadian border. The district has courthouses in Seattle and Tacoma.

  • The United States Courts Library in Seattle is soliciting bids from independent contractors to perform loose-leave and microfiche filing.  Bid packets are available by clicking here. (2/10/12)
  • Beginning on February 2, 2012 a Federal Bar Association sponsored Federal Civil Rights Legal Clinic will be held at the Seattle Courthouse on alternate Thursdays from 12:00 noon-2:00 p.m.  Please see the attached flyer for contact information and further details about the Legal Clinic. (2/2/12)
  • The Clerk's Office has established an e-mail address: questions@wawd.uscourts.gov, for pro se parties to submit prefiling questions about forms, fees and filing procedures.  Please note that the Clerk's Office will not accept documents for filing at this e-mail address. (2/8/12)
  • We have updated our Application for Leave to Proceed In Forma Pauperis (IFP) forms.  If you are filing an IFP Application, please use the updated forms available on our forms page. (12/14/11)
  • An increase in the electronic public access (EPA) fee, from $.08 to $.10 per page, will take effect on April 1, 2012.  Please visit the PACER website for more information.

  • A five hour window, on Saturdays from 5:30 am until 10:30 am, is reserved for routine maintenance and minor upgrades of the CM/ECF system without prior notice.  If you experience problems accessing CM/ECF during this time period on a Saturday, please wait until after 10:30 am to proceed.  (12/01/11)
