Focus of Practice
Since my practice is limited to mediation and arbitration, I direct your attention to the section on ADR experience. I want to add that my past experience includes cases in both federal and state courts.
I began my legal career in Oklahoma in 1977 and soon was employed as the city attorney for Muskogee, OK. Subsequently, I became engaged in a civil and criminal practice of law. After moving to Washington in 1982, I continued practicing in numerous areas of civil litigation, including personal injury, real estate, contract, corporate and commercial law, dissolution, and property damage subrogation. Beginning in 1986, I began to incorporate mediation and arbitration into my practice. For well over two decades, however, I have been exclusively engaged in both mediation and arbitration.

I was formally trained in 1986 as a mediator by WAMS and have engaged in numerous advanced mediator training sessions in subsequent years. In the past 36 months, I presented an interactive lecture on mediation to the University of Washington School of Law Pre-Trial Practice course in 2016 and 2017. I cumulatively spent 8.25 hours preparing for and presenting these two lectures.
I have been the mediator in well in excess of 5,000 cases since my original formal training in 1986. This has involved both federal and state court litigation, as well as matters which have not been in suit. My primary experience is with personal injury, medical and professional negligence, and other tort claims, contract disputes, employment, and real estate/commercial matters. I have also served on many occasions as an arbitrator in a variety of forums, such as UM/UIM panels.
