1983-1986: Private practice in the firm of Mullen and Rickert located in Mount Vernon, Wa. 1986-1992: Served as the elected Skagit County Prosecuting Attorney. 1992-2017 Served as Superior Court Judge in Skagit County Wa. 2017 to present: Mediator and arbitrator for Rickert Mediation and Arbitration PLLC, 1204 Cleveland Ave., Mount Vernon, Wa.

The National Judicial College Civil Mediation Course in Reno Nevada. 40 hours. 2016. State Judicial Continuing Legal Education credits, including ethics. 15 hours each year from 1993 to 2017 when I retired.

ADR Experience

Upon my retirement from the bench in June of 2017 I have been mediating cases on a regular basis for Rickert Mediation and Arbitration. Over the past two and one half years I have successfully mediated and arbitrated over 300 cases in Skagit, Whatcom, Snohomish, San Juan and Island counties. The subject matter of the cases has included Personal injury, insurance complaints, will and estate disputes, property and land disputes and family law.
