Legal Experience

Washington State Department of Corrections (DOC), Risk Management (November 2003 to November 2012): Tort Claims and Litigation Management in which I represented the DOC in case evaluation with the Office of the Attorney General and the State Risk Management Office to decide the value of particular claims/lawsuits and give the DOC executive management's opinion as to whether or not to settle the case. In addition to that role, I also attended over 50 mediation sessions where I worked with the state Assistant Attorney General and the state Tort Claim Liaison from the State Risk Management Office to ensure that DOC's interested were protected in the negotiation process of the mediation.

ADR Experience

In 2016, participated, as a party, in a three day mediation (June 28, 29, and 30) related to the Oso/SR530 landslide litigation. Party (Defendant) participant in over 50 mediation sessions on behalf of the Washington State Department of Corrections ranging in value from as low as $7,000 to as high as $4,250,000 from 2003 to 2012.
