Judge Coughenour is not currently accepting applications for clerkship positions.

Externs

Judge Coughenour's next available position begins in the Fall of 2027. Applications will be accepted beginning in the Spring of 2027. Please direct your application at that time to coughenourorders@wawd.uscourts.gov. The subject line should be "Fall 2027 Externship." The materials, in a single PDF, must include cover letter, resume, law school transcript, and writing sample (not to exceed 10 pages and preferably 5 pages).

The positions are in person and unpaid. Academic credit is available.

All summer 2027 positions are reserved for placements from the District's diversity extern program.
